Corvettes de Olympia
Meeting Minutes (3/11/08)

Overview

This was our first meeting with our new officers in place.

1     CALL TO ORDER / INTRODUCTIONS / APPROVAL OF MINUTES

The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 11, 2008, at the Chamber’s House Restaurant at Panorama City.  The meeting minutes from the February meeting were approved as published.

2     GUEST SPEAKER – Kevin Gearhart, Titus Will ChevroletForeground Color

Kevin Gearhart from Titus-Will came to visit and speak with us.  He wanted to share that they are now stocking Corvettes for sale at the dealership.  When he started with the Olympia dealership several years ago, they had no Corvettes on the lot.  Now they have several as they have found that there is a market for it in the area.  He also wanted to let us know that they now have a Corvette specific mechanic working for the dealership by the name of Mark Hickman.  Mark is in the top 5% in the Nation for Corvette schooling.  He will also give the extra attention that is needed when working on a Corvette, to take special care of the vehicle.  Kevin encouraged that if there is anything that we need, that we come to see him, or give him a call.  He also brought a box of Corvette goodies to raffle off at the end of our meeting.

4     ALL CITY RALLY – Brian

Brian spoke about the upcoming All City Rally.  The route is approximately 50 miles in length.  The rally pre-run will be held on April 6th, and the actual rally will be on April 20th.  Brian showed a Corvette poster on which to fill in the amount of pre-registrations that we receive.  We had a successful booth at the Corvette and High Performance Swap Meet last month, and we will also have a booth set up at the upcoming Lion’s Club Pancake Breakfast event.  A sign up sheet was circulated to get volunteers to work both the pre-run and the rally, as well as volunteers to drive in the pre-run.  Brian would like to see a minimum of 16 cars signed up to drive the pre-run, so that rally staff can fix anything that doesn't work quite right.  The pre-run will start at Corvette and High Performance and end at I. talia Pizzeria restaurant.  The actual rally will also start at Corvette and High Performance, with the final award ceremony at the SPSCC Student Union building.  As a special attraction, the KXXO Freeway Hero van will  be at the college during the award ceremony from approximately 2-4 p.m

6     NEW BUSINESS

Due to construction and renovation at Tumwater Valley Bar & Grill, we are no longer using that facility for our meeting place.  Discussion took place regarding the future of our meetings and meeting places.  It is becoming increasingly difficult these days, to find a facility that does not charge for the meeting space.  Lee volunteered Alliance Enterprises’ office for next month’s meeting.  We will further discuss when/where we would like to meet in the coming months.
Due to the Olympus Rally moving to Pomeroy, WA, our club is no longer obligated to work this rally with John Forespring in accordance with him providing the insurance for the upcoming All City Rally.  We may be asked to work at another event further into the year as a replacement.

Peggy asked for a show of hands to find out if members would be willing to work at the Corvette & High Performance Open House in September.  Approximately 50% of the membership stated that they would be willing to do so.

ADJOURNMENT / RAFFLE

The meeting was adjourned at 8:00 p.m.
The next meeting will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 9, 2008, at the Alliance Enterprises Office.
