Minutes of the General Meeting July 14th, 2010


CALL TO ORDER / INTRODUCTIONS / APPROVAL OF MINUTES

The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m., July 14, 2010at Hawk’s Prairie Inn.  Each member introduced themselves as well as their car(s).  A mistake was made in the June CdeO Newsletter and the May minutes were printed instead of the June minutes.  Meagan will send out the June minutes to all the members.  The minutes for June meeting were not approved.

TREASURER’S REPORT – Larry Weniger

Larry had a visual presentation of all the account balances.  Mr., Weniger announced that total cost of the 4th of July picnic was $272.00. For up to date treasurer’s information is available on the club website.


Committee Reports


NWACC – George Schwartz
George reported that the NWACC insurance will stay the same.  NWACC decided to stay with their current insurance carrier until renewal next year.  Mr. Schwartz explained that there was not enough cost savings to make a switch in carriers.  

NCM – George Schwartz

Mr. Schwartz announced the National Corvette Museum’s new raffle.  The raffle is for a Victory Red convertible Corvette.  (500 tickets available, $250 per ticket and only 230 have been sold)  The drawing will take place on July 15, 2010.  He reminded the club that if you purchase a Z06 or ZR1 you can build your own engine for a mere $5800.  George stated that Corvettes de Olympia has been a member of the National Corvette Museum for 20 years and a founding member.  

HISTORIAN- Randy Harris

Randy told the club that the Historian position was “Up for Sale”.  President Renick stated that Randy would like to pass the torch and if anyone is interested, please see her after the meeting.  The club enthusiastically thanked Randy for all of his hard work!

SPONSORSHIP – Peggy Rogers

Peggy reported that sponsorship was up to date.

SCHOLARSHIP – Karen Johnson

Amy Moorash announced that the $188 was donated at the 4th of July BBQ for the scholarship fund.

WEBSITE – Art Carter

Website is up to date.

MEMBERSHIP – Art Carter

Art reported that our membership roster is up to date.  Art asked for our visiting members to introduce themselves.  The club greeted each prospective member.


SUNSHINE – Jenni Hatfield

There was no new sunshine to report.

EVENTS AND ACTIVITIES – Josette Miller and Jon Cox

Josette presented a slideshow of events that the club has participated in so far this year and stated that the club has been very busy.  Josette reminded the club of several upcoming events.  Lakefair Car Show – July 16, Lakefair Twilight Parade – July 17, CdeO Picnic (after Lakefair parade) – July 17, NWACC Autocross #3 – July 18, Windy Ridge Day Tour – July 24, Rose City Corvette Classic – July 30 – August 2, Merrill Garden’s Annual Classic Car Show – August 6, Astoria Days Regatta Parade & Evergreen Aviation/Space Museum tour – August 13-15.  

Discussion took place regarding the End of Summer Run to the ocean vs. Cascade Loop tour.  The club showed strong interest in replacing the End of Summer Run to the ocean with the Cascade Loop Tour.  Josette will gather all the information needed for the Cascade Loop tour before the next meeting.  (The Cascade Loop tour will take place in September.)


Josette asked the club to watch for an email regarding the next Jacket Night in August (dinner & a drive in movie).  Josette reminded the club that the next meeting (August 11) will be a short meeting to allow for social cruise.

OLD BUSINESS


Randy Harris presented a quick outline of parade etiquette.  During parades with less than 8 cars:  Proceed in a single file line and follow the car in front of you.  There should be a cars length between you and the car in front of you. Parking lights should be on. For parades with more than 8 cars:  Proceed in two lines close to each other (your front tire should match up with the back tire of the car next to you). If there is a center divider, go on the opposite side of the car in front of you, after center divider resume formation.  Parking lights should be on. Randy explained that revving your engines is o.k. as long as it is controlled.  Randy will send out the flyer presented at the meeting by email.

NEW BUSINESS


Jonathan P. from Morningside presented a short (very entertaining) video on why you should participate in the Morningside Ride.  Jonathan explained that the Morningside Ride has been designed as Poker Rally meets Amazing Race.  The ride will be held on September 19, 2010 from 9am to 2pm.

Peggy Rogers announced the School Supply Drive will be on August 18, 2010.  Peggy stated that the Mustang Club will might not participate this and encouraged the club to participate.  School Supply lists were passed out.  Peggy will follow up with an email to club with more information.


Ann Wax announced that several of the members would like to look in to ordering radio’s at a bulk rate.  Discussion took place to see if the club would like to purchase a “club only” radio for visiting members who are traveling with us during a cruise or event.  Meagan will send out an email to gather votes to see if members are in favor of the club purchasing a “club only” radio.  In the meantime, Ann will check on radio prices.



ADJOURNMENT / RAFFLE


The 50/50 raffle winner responsible for bringing next month’s raffle prize is: Frank Zanger.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:30pm.


The next meeting will be held at 7:00 p.m. on August 11, 2010 at Hawk Prairie Inn.  Please note the next meeting will be a short business meeting to allow time for a social cruise.
